Q1. What do candidates get out of the programme?

Q2. When on the programme what if I cannot complete?
A2. Successful applicants are required to make a 12 month commitment
to the programme. The selection process will identify people with the
motivation and committement to complete the programme.
However we understand that things happen that affect your ability to
complete. There will be legitimate reasons why someone may need to
defer. Deferment therefore will be dealt with on a case by case basis
by the Governance panel who will meet regularly throughout the course
of the programme to discuss the progress and deal with any matters
arising.
Q3. What support will I receive when on the programme?
A3. You will receive support from your Line Manager, the programme
facilitator, HR, the Directors and peers on the programme
Q4. What measures are in place to ensure that selection is fair?
A4. Successful applications will be based on a number of factors
- Individual performance and track record
- Quality of your application
- Line Manager Reference
- Knowledge and experience
- Business priorities
- An independent selection panel will assess applications and their
recommendations will be referred to the Directors for final decisions.
Q5. What happens if my application is not successful?
A5. If you are not successful you will have the option to reapply in year
two. You will receive full and comprehensive feedback, an updated
PDP, performance reviews, signposting to development opportunities
(on line resources, work based opportunities, training).
Q6. If I successfully complete the programme will that mean that I
will be guaranteed promotion?
A6. Participation in the programme is not a guarantee that individuals will
progress to more senior management positions.
Q7. How can I progress if I have a manager who is unlikely to leave
for a long time?
A7. This process is about building capacity and leadership in the
business. This programme will help prepare you to be ready to
take on more when opportunities arise. In the meantime building
capacity and improving performance NOW which is good for the
individuals and the business.
Individuals may take on bigger roles and more responsibility as the
business grows.
Q8. What support can I expect from my Line Manager?
A8. A key component is to involve Line Managers at every possible stage
resulting in them taking ownership and responsibility for the
development of their staff.
This is a significant investment so need to ensure that the many
development opportunities are maximised. For example, Line manager
reference, 360 assessments, providing feedback, coaching support,
which in turn will increase communication throughout the business.
